As with most medications, some side effects could arise when taking Carisoprodol. Some common side effects include skin rash, vomiting, upset stomach, fast heart rate, headaches, clumsiness, dizziness, and drowsiness. If any of these side effects are persistent or increase in severity, you should contact your physician. Serious side effects of Carisoprodol include eye-burning, weakness, signs of an allergic reaction, fever, and breathing troubles. If you notice any of these side effects, you should contact your physician right away. You should also avoid consumption of any type of alcohol while taking Carisoprodol, because the alcohol could increase the possibility of drowsiness. If you currently have liver or kidney disease, you will need to let your physician know about this as well, he or she will have to prescribe a lower dose of the medication and carefully monitor your situation. While taking Carisoprodol, you will want to take a few days off work and decrease your activities. This medication causes drowsiness and when used as therapy for muscle injuries you will want to ensure that you are resting and relaxing the muscles as much as possible to allow them to heal and the pain to subside. As a last note, you will likely need to take Carisoprodol with food and a full glass of water or milk. The medication could cause upset stomach in some patients.
