What You Should Know About Duck Allergy





Duck allergy may develop when weak individuals are exposed to the allergens that are produced by ducks. This allergy is usually associated with too much exposure to duck feathers, droppings and urine. It has been estimated that about 30 percent of people exposed to some domestic allergies have the chance to develop duck allergy.

Majority of the sufferers of this allergy suffers from its symptoms after 6 months of first exposure to ducks. However, almost all experience symptoms after four years.

What are the symptoms of duck allergy?

Most allergens produced by duck are strong. Because of this, the symptoms mainly occur after ten minutes of being exposed to them. Mainly, the common symptoms of duck allergy can be:

• Itching of the eyes

• Watery eyes

• Sneezing

• Runny nose

• Skin rashes

• Allergic rhinitis

How is it being treated?

Persons with duck allergy can usually take one of these allergy medications:

• Antihistamine

• Brompheniramine

• Corticosteroid

• Cetirizine

• Vitamin C

• Desloratadine

How will you prevent yourself from having a duck allergy?

In order for you to avoid having duck allergy, assign someone to feed the ducks and clean the cages for you because it can generate allergen up to six times. And since allergens are the main cause of the occurrence of symptoms, stop them as early as possible. There are available filters that could help you reduce or lessen the flow of the duck’s allergens.

Duck allergy has very strong allergens. So, you may not be able to know that you have already been exposed until the symptoms occur. Therefore, to avoid them, do the necessary precautions.
